The Cambridge University Ireland Society : The Northern Ireland Forum

The Northern Ireland Forum

The Northern Ireland Forum is essentially a parallel body to the CU Ireland Society, performing a role complementary to the Ireland Society as a whole. While the latter was established to provide an events-based network for all students from Ireland, North and South - regardless of political outlook - we recognised that there were particular sensitivities and concerns for students from Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Forum was thus envisaged as a platform for discussion that is acceptable to everyone from Northern Ireland and Unionist, Nationalist or other.

Speaker meetings are a valuable part of our programme, but the Forum is far from being an exclusively political body. Our aim is to host events and performances that will provide the wider student body with an alternative and interesting insight into the rich cultural world now emerging at home. We seek to offer a programme that combines established names from Northern Ireland with up-and-coming talent from our own membership, so we always welcome further suggestions.
