Lent Term 2023-24 term card

Membership form for 2023-24

Gymnastics is one of the most technical, challenging, and rewarding sports. Gymnasts combine difficult moves to produce stunning routines that seem effortless, though far beyond the capabilities of the untrained.

Traditionally, male artistic gymnasts compete on six pieces of apparatus: the floor, the pommel horse, the rings, the vault, the parallel bars and the high bar. Women compete on four: the floor, the vault, the uneven bars and the beam.

Gymnastics in the UK has grown in popularity in recent years: as well as being fun and satisfying for participants, the impressive skills and routines make it a captivating spectator sport. The benefits of gymnastic training are transferable to almost any other sport: gymnasts tend to have superior strength, balance, flexibility, coordination and discipline.

Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned veteran; looking to compete, to improve fitness for other sports, or just to learn to backflip, come along and give gymnastics a try!

Who are we?

The Gymnastics Club is a friendly club, with gymnasts of all skill levels from complete beginners to former international competitors. We enjoy all aspects of gymnastics as a sport, and support each other both in training and outside the gym as friends.

And what do we do?

We provide basic training facilities in Cambridge and organize external training sessions in Spectrum Gymnastics and Milton Keynes Gymnastics Club. We compete in the annual Varsity Match against Oxford in Lent Term each academic year, as well as a number of smaller competitions. Each member can decide how much of a time commitment gymnastics will be for them: some train religiously up to four times a week, while others just drop in occasionally. Socials are organized several times a term to encourage team bonding outside training hours and can be in the form of meals, barbecues, punting, clubbing, etc.
