From the edge of your seat to the edge of your imagination.
“On the Edge” presents the work of fifteen different choreographers, who have each interpreted the show’s central theme. Dance pieces explore diverse themes including: being on the edge of the solar system; the unstable edge of emotions; geometric edges; the edge of self-identity and conflict within the individual; the boundaries between people and relationships; the edge of neurological disease and of normal and abnormal movement; and the edge of society and the choice between conformity and freedom.
Each choreographer has chosen a different dance style to work with, and the variety of movement styles presented in the show includes graceful, balletic dance, African tribal influenced movement, hard-edged and high energy contemporary dance, Capoeira and release technique. Musical styles used include African soul, modern classical, Synth-electro specially composed for the show and Hiphop. Artists whose work features in the show include Nitin Sawhney, Nickelback, The Prodigy, Philip Glass and Leftfield. A spectacular fusion of dance and music that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
