It would be hard to imagine a better season than the 2000-1 campaign.
Under coach Dr Jon Clarke and captain Pascale Garaud, the Blues registered
an astonishing list of achievements. The team won a thrilling Varsity
Match victory from two sets down and, having qualified for the EVA Finals
without dropping a set, achieved a Club-best 4th position in Leeds. Yet
they outdid even this in qualifying for the BUSA tournament by defeating
Loughborough, who had been unbeaten at that level for the past five years.
At the BUSA Finals they could not repeat this feat, but still placed 2nd in
the country, the Club's first ever medal position in the tournament. Setter
Stephanie Bee was named BUSA Player of the Tournament to cap a truly
memorable year. The standard has now been set for future teams to follow...
