Cambridge University Gaelic Athletic Club (CUGAC) organises Gaelic Games
within Cambridge University.
We field the following teams in university competitions:
- Men's Gaelic Football, Ladies' Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie.
The Men's and Ladies' Gaelic Football teams compete in the BUSA Gaelic
Football and Hurling Championships and against Oxford in the Annual Varsity Match for the Moynihan Cup (for Men's Gaelic
Football) - including a win in 2008.
Our ladies team also won in 2007. In 2006 Hurling and Camogie teams were
added for the first time.
Finally a new (non-University) sister club was formed in 2006 - Cambridge Parnells
- competing in the local Hertfordshire leagues and championship. This
club shares some of the same panel as the university team and has been
quite successful already. More information about the Parnells available
on their website.
Both clubs can be contacted via cambridgegaa@googlemail.com

How to get involved:
We train on our own pitch at Coldham's Common in the east of
the city on Saturday mornings (starting at 10.30) and CURFC training pitch on
Thursday evenings. We also have a circuits session at Fenner's Gym on
Tuesday at 7-8pm. Each team trains with an emphasis on learning the
skills of the games as well as having fun at the same time. Directions to our training
locations can be found here.
Contrary to what might be expected our team is in no way dominated by
Irish students. The teams in the past have included Australians, Germans,
Greeks, Scots,
Welsh as well as a sizable bunch of local English players and a Mongolian
Hurler! Each year a number of novices join the team so don't be afraid to join
in.
Finally thanks must be given to our sponsors, the Earl of Beaconsfield and the Earl
of Derby pubs, who are a
great support to the club and also to Kevin Hunt as
Spinal Physiotherapy who
provides top quality treatment.

Ray and Jonny from the Earl of Derby present John
Regan (University Football Captain) and Darren O'Loane (Club Captain)
with a new set of jerseys.
