CUECS' work is organised around project teams. Each team consists of motivated students from amongst the Society's pool of members. The work involved in carrying out a study varies greatly from project to project, but as an illustration, our Cardboard Recycling Feasibility Study team had to:
- Find a representative sample of departments to study
- Find out how much cardboard is being wasted in these departments
- Establish convenient ways to collect cardboard, taking into account the major sources of wastage
- Liaise with students and staff as to whether the scheme is acceptable
- Predict the costs of a recycling scheme
- Set up an organisational structure for the scheme
The project teams are assisted by the CUECS committee, which is responsible for facilitating and supervising projects, managing the society's finances and investigating potential projects, as well as for the day-to-day running of the society.
